JFCS is piloting and refining evidence-based trauma-informed practices that foster an atmosphere of trust and healing among Russian-speaking Holocaust survivors. We are augmenting our current case management and homemaker services with an added counseling component based on the “Seeking Safety” model.
This holistic approach will combine group counseling sessions, meals and other socialization opportunities, wellness, and transportation assistance to and from program activities.
The program's goals are to reduce symptoms of PTSD, depression, and anxiety among the survivors served; offer activities promoting improved mental and physical health; and impart trauma-informed empowerment skills to participants that they can use indefinitely
We hope that anticipated positive outcomes will serve as a gateway to further treatment and engagement, such as individual counseling and family support for caregivers.
