As survivors age, their healthcare needs increase. For many, visiting dentists or doctors triggers the trauma they experienced in childhood to be relived. Unfortunately, few healthcare personnel have training in either identifying or treating Holocaust survivors.
Our PCTI Training for the Medical Professional program provides training and insight on how to identify survivor patient and how to provide appropriate PCTI services. Year 1 of the program welcomes dentists from the Alpha Omega International Dental Fraternity. Year 2 welcomes physicians from two New York City hospitals who serve large numbers of Holocaust survivors. Additionally, workshops and follow-up will be presented through face-to-face sessions, webinars, and teleconferencing.
